Description

Jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) is a unique tropical fruit native to Brazil, often called the “Brazilian grape tree” because its dark purple, grape-like fruits grow directly on the trunk and branches. The fruit has a thin, glossy skin and a soft, translucent pulp with a sweet, slightly tart flavor, often compared to grapes or lychees. It is commonly eaten fresh but also used to make jellies, wines, and liqueurs.

This tree is not only prized for its delicious fruit but also for its ornamental value, as the sight of its trunk covered in ripe berries is striking and unusual. It prefers warm, humid climates and thrives in well-drained, slightly acidic soil.
