Overview & Botanical Background

 

Abiu is a tropical fruit native to the Amazon rainforest in South America, particularly Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Venezuela. It is also cultivated in parts of Southeast Asia, such as the Philippines and Cuba.

The tree typically grows to around 10 meters (33 ft) tall but can reach up to 35 m (115 ft) in ideal conditions

Flesh: Inside, you’ll find a translucent, white, jelly-like pulp with a creamy texture. The taste is typically described as sweet, with rich notes reminiscent of caramel custard or flan, sometimes with a hint of pineapple
